Borovskii graduated 1952 from the faculty of painting, sculpture and architecture of the Leningrad Repin institute where he had studied under L. Rudakov and V. Konashevich. Until 1990 he mainly worked as a graphic artist and illustrator. In 1990 he started working as a scenographer for the theatre.
