Born Smela (Cherkassy) 9 April 1946

Bokovnia graduated from the Leningrad Mukhina Institute in 1971. In 1979 he became the head of the political poster department of Lenizdat. He worked for many years as an illustrator of children's books and a  cartoonist for the journal Krokodil. He taught at the Mukhina Institute and was director of the publishing house Avrora. He  lives and works in St. Petersburg
