Bogomolov, son of a sailor and amateur artist, studied at the Leningrad Military Transport Academy and, at the same time, at the Kirov Drama School. For a long time he worked as a ship-yard engineer while, in parallel, he studied painting He   Bogomolov was among the organizers of the first exhibitions of non conformist art in Leningrad in the 1970s. He lives and works in St. Petersburg.
