Graphic artist Reinhold Genrikhovich Berg was born on December 3, 1917 in the village of Ney-Galka of the Volga German Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, the fifth child in a poor peasant family. In 1932, as a 15-year-old young man who showed the ability to draw, Berg came to Engels, to the studio for gifted teenagers at the People's Commissariat of the Autonomous Republic of Volga Germans. The studio was led by an experienced teacher J. Weber. He studied at Zelmansky Pedagogical School (1933-1935). He graduated from the Saratov Art College with honors (1935-1938). He taught drawing and sketching at school No. 10 of Engels (1938-1939). After the war, Berg moved to Kemerovo  where he worked and died.
