Elisveta Bem, born Elisaveta Endaurova, studied 1857-64 at the Petersburg Scool for the promotion of the Arts under Kramskoi and graduated with a silver medal. She became famous for her illustrations in the form of silhouettes that depict the world of the Russian child. She worked mainly as a book illustrator.
