Belomlinskaia is the daughter of the painter and graphic artist Mikhail Belomliskii. She graduated from the Leningrad Theatrical Institute and left for New York in 1989. After failing to make a decent living as a fabric designer, she decided to write songs and poetry. In 2002 she returned to St. Petersburg.
