Natalia Basmanova, born Natalia Lang, graduated from the Leningrad technical institutions in 1927 where she studied under Levitskii. She worked as a children's book illustrator for the Leningrad branch of the State Publishing house. Her daughter Marina Basmanova (born 1936) is also an illustrator of children's books.
