Barsky studied from1951 to 1957 at the Kiev Art Institute. In 1981 he emigrated to Germany where he settled in Dortmund. Barsky was one of the pioneers of the unofficial art in Kiev and befriended Kabakov and Aigi. He is known for his concrete and visual poetry.
