Argus was a literary and art monthly edited by the eccentric journalist V. A. Rappoport. The similarity of the design and style of Argus with the London published The Strand, makes the journal considered to be a kind of Anglophile project of the editor.The cooperation withsir Arthur Conan Doyle, the exclusive rights to publish translations of his stories in Russia belonged to Argus, as well as the specifics of the selections and translations of other authors many of them of The Strand.
