Apsit (Apsitis) studied 1898-99 in St. Petersburg under L. Dmitriev-Kavkazkii. In 1905 he moved to Moscow. He worked as an illustrator for the journals Zvezda and Niva (1902-1906). In 1921 he emigrated to Latvia and in 1939 to Germany. He died in Germany: the year is sometimes given as 1944 and sometimes as 1946. |
