Antonovskii studied at the Odessa Art school and started as a cartoon drawer for the Odessa newspapers. After 1916 he lived in St. Petersburg where he drew cartoons for Novyi Satyrikon, Argus and, after the revolution, for Krasnyi Voron. Under the pseudonym A. Borisov he wrote several children's books.
